2016 WSF Cumulative Summary Report
This report provides a summary of the findings of all the FROG surveys conducted in 2016. More detail on each survey is provided below in individual reports. The purpose of the 2016 surveys was to understand travel behavior, satisfaction with WSF performance on key attributes, and opinions regarding key issues currently facing the state ferry system among key customers including: ferry riders who are part of the FROG panel, freight shippers who use WSF, infrequent WSF riders who are not part of the panel, users of the WSF reservation system, and the general public.

2016 WSF Summer Ferry Performance Survey
This survey was conducted on-board ferries during the summer 2016 travel period and was sent to FROG panel members. The onboard survey was conducted as a way to reach recreational ferry riders that are not part of the Ferry Riders Opinion Group (FROG).

2016 WSF Summer Reservation Survey
This survey was conducted in July 2016 asking ferry riders for their views and opinions on the WSF reservation system.

2016 WSF Winter Ferry Performance Survey
This survey was conducted March-April 2016 asking ferry riders for their views and opinions on WSF during the recent winter travel period (December 27, 2015 to March 19, 2016)

2016 WSF Freight Customer Survey
This survey was conducted by phone and focused on freight companies who use the ferry system. The primary purpose of this survey was to gather data on their usage of the ferry system as well as to gain insight into their opinions related to sailing schedules, ferry operations, fare levels, demand management, reservations, etc.
The full survey report (pdf 2 mb) was presented to the Commission at its July 19, 2016 meeting in Olympia along with a presentation highlighting the key findings (pdf 716 kb).
2016 WSF General Market Assessment
This survey was conducted to understand how three distinct groups: Eastside of Puget Sound, Westside of Puget Sound and residents living in non-Puget Sound areas utilize the ferries. It was conducted June 3-9, 2016 via the Voice of Washington State (VOWS) online panel representing residents from across the state.

2016 Ferry Naming Quick Poll
This survey was conducted in January 2016 asking the FROG and Voice of Washington (VOWS) panel members to select which of the three ferry names under consideration they would chose for the next 144-car ferry: Suquamish, Cowlitz or Sammamish. More information on the names can be found here.
