The Transportation Commission is required by law to conduct a survey of ferry riders every two years to help inform level of service, operational, pricing, planning, and investment decisions. The findings of the surveys are reported to the Legislature and Governor (RCW 47.60.286).

2012 Winter Wave Survey Results
This survey was conducted on-line with FROG survey panel members during May 2012 and is referred to as the “winter survey” because it focused on gathering the opinions of ferry riders systemwide during the non-peak season (Jan 3rd to March 27th). The full Survey Report (pdf 4 mb) was presented to the Commission at its July 2012 meeting in Olympia along with a presentation highlighting the key findings (pdf 961 kb).
2012 Summer Survey Results
This survey was conducted on-line with FROG survey panel members, and also on the ferries to gather data from recreational riders who do not belong to the panel. The survey was conducted in September 2012 and is referred to as the “summer survey” because it focused on gathering the opinions of ferry riders systemwide during the peak summer season (June 17-September 22, 2012). The report of findings (pdf 12 mb) was included in a presentation to the Commission at its December 2012 meeting in Olympia.
