July 7 virtual meeting; online open house available for more details
OLYMPIA – The Washington State Transportation Commission is considering a proposal for implementing a low-income toll discount program on the State Route 167 and 509 expressways in King and Pierce counties – and wants public input before the final decision is made.
The public has an opportunity to learn more about the proposal and provide comments during a Tuesday, July 7, virtual public meeting as well as an online open house
If adopted, the discount proposal would go into effect with the opening of the SR 167 expressway later this year. The program would:
- Provide a 50 percent discount off the applicable GoodToGo! pass toll rate for two-axle vehicles.
- Be available to customers with a household income at or below 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Level who have a GoodToGo! account and use a pass.
Ways to comment
The public can learn more about the proposal and provide written comments through an online open house that is now live and will be available through Friday, July 10.
The commission is hosting a virtual public input meeting on Zoom at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, and registration is required. During the meeting, details will be shared about the proposal, and the public will be able to provide testimony.
Next steps
The commission is expected to make a final decision on the proposal following a public hearing at its virtual meeting at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, July 21. Those who would like to provide public testimony during the July 21 hearing will need to register to attend via Zoom.
