Public is invited to join meeting in person or online
BAINBRIDGE ISLAND – The Washington State Transportation Commission will hold its November meeting on Bainbridge Island to learn about local and regional transportation priorities. Commissioners will hear from city, county, tribal and economic development leaders about ongoing projects and future needs in the area.
The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 1 to 4:30 p.m. and Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Bainbridge Island City Hall, 280 Madison Ave. N. The public is invited to attend. Those wishing to attend virtually via Zoom may register for the Tuesday and Wednesday sessions on the commission’s website. The meeting will also be streamed live on TVW.
Public comment will be accepted in-person and online at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Written comment can be submitted via email to transc@wstc.wa.gov.
Meeting discussion topics include:
- City, county perspectives: Leaders from the City of Bainbridge Island and Kitsap County will give an update on transportation planning and projects.
- Regional transit services: Kitsap Transit’s work to provide transit connections across land and water through its bus and fast ferry network will be highlighted.
- Economic development: Local leaders will discuss how transportation supports the region’s economy.
- Tribal projects: Leaders from the Suquamish and Port Gamble S’Klallam tribes will share transportation initiatives.
- State highway projects: The Washington State Department of Transportation will provide an overview of recent and upcoming projects in the region.
The commission meets in communities across Washington state to better understand local transportation systems and hear from transportation operators and the public. Insights from these meetings help shape policy recommendations to the governor and the Legislature each year.
