WENATCHEE – The Washington State Transportation Commission will hold its September meeting in Wenatchee. Commissioners will learn about local projects underway and hear from local government, business and tribal leaders about the transportation needs and priorities of the region.

The public is invited to attend the meeting, which will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 16, from 1 to 5 p.m. and on Wednesday, Sept. 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Confluence Technology Center, 285 Technology Center Way, Suite 102, in Wenatchee. Those wishing to attend virtually via Zoom may register for the Tuesday and Wednesday sessions on the commission’s website. The meeting will also be streamed live on TVW.

Virtual and in-person public comment is scheduled for 9:50 a.m. on Wednesday. Written comment can also be submitted via email to transc@wstc.wa.gov.

Meeting discussion topics include:

  • Projects in the region: City, county and port leaders will share updates on major projects in the region, including the Apple Capital Loop, airport runway renovations and street and multimodal safety projects.
  • Regional partnerships: Representatives from the cities of Wenatchee and East Wenatchee will share how they are working together to prepare for wildfire threats.
  • Economic development: Business and government leaders will discuss how transportation supports the region’s economy and new housing growth.
  • Naming the “Medal of Honor Bridge”: The commissioners will take action on a proposal to name the Interstate 90 bridge over the Columbia River near Vantage in honor of those who have been awarded the Medal of Honor.

The commission holds four local meetings across the state each year to engage communities and understand the unique transportation needs in cities and towns throughout the state. The insights gathered during the meeting shape policy recommendations the commission submits to the Legislature and the governor at the start of each legislative session.
