Nov. 13-14 meeting is available to attend in person or online
ABERDEEN – Transportation successes and challenges facing Aberdeen and the surrounding region will be the focus for the Washington State Transportation Commission during a visit to the city on Nov. 13-14. The meeting is part of the commission’s statewide outreach program focused on the transportation priorities and needs of communities.
The meeting is on Wednesday, Nov. 13, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and on Thursday, Nov. 14, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend. The meeting will take place at the tulalW Student Center at Grays Harbor College, 1620 Edward P. Smith Drive. Those wishing to attend virtually may register for the Wednesday and Thursday sessions on the commission’s website. The meeting will also be livestreamed on TVW.
Virtual and in-person public comment is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14. Written comments can be submitted via email to transc@wstc.wa.gov.
Topics to be discussed include:
- City, county transportation priorities: Officials from Grays Harbor County, Aberdeen, Hoquiam, Westport and Elma will update commissioners on local transportation projects and needs.
- Transit update: Representatives from Grays Harbor Transit will offer an overview of bus and transit services and share their plans for improving mobility in the region.
- Regional economic development: Leaders from the Port of Grays Harbor and Greater Grays Harbor, Inc. will discuss economic initiatives underway and how transportation supports businesses in the region.
- Tribal transportation, development: Leaders from the Confederated Tribes of the Chehalis Reservation will share updates on tribal projects and transportation connections.
The meeting in Aberdeen is the last of four local meetings held around the state throughout 2024. The information gathered will inform policy recommendations the commission submits to the Legislature and the governor.
