Coordinated Transportation System Planning for Western Washington
Presenter: John White, Assistant Secretary, Urban Mobility and Access Division, Washington State Department of Transportation
In 2023, the Legislature directed WSDOT to coordinate the many planning efforts underway, including the Interstate 5 corridor plan, intercity passenger rail plans, planning for a future high-speed rail system, and plans for addressing commercial aviation capacity. This presentation will provide an update on the department’s efforts to coordinate all these planning efforts.

Freight Mobility Strategic Investment Board Update

The Washington State Freight Mobility Strategic Investment Board (FMSIB) is a 17-member body appointed by the Governor to create a coordinated state program to facilitate freight movement. The Commission will hear an update on FMSIB activities and priorities.

Toll Facility Financial Update – State Route 520 Bridge

The Office of State Treasurer is required to confirm the sustainability of toll rates on the SR 520 Bridge, in consideration of future toll-setting needs. An update on funding levels will be presented.

SR 167 & I-405 Express Toll Lanes Performance Update

WSDOT will report on the performance of the SR 167 and I-405 Express Toll Lanes between July 2024 and June 2025, including average vehicle speeds within the lanes during peak periods.

Autonomous vehicle (AV) deployment and testing is happening in spots around the country, as well as in Washington state. Leaders in this space from the cities of Seattle, Redmond, San Francisco, and Austin will provide overviews of their local AV programs and will share experiences and lessons learned.
