In addition, interstate coordination is key to the area, as Clarkston is at the Washington border with Idaho and shares many transportation and economic interests with Lewiston, Idaho. An overview of key issues and successes will be provided.

Public Transportation and Active Transportation Planning

Set in an area with abundant natural resources, active transportation is a key component of the Clarkston area transportation system. Public transportation is also critical to mobility but is experiencing challenges. Planning efforts will be discussed for both of these transportation sectors.

Nez Perce Transportation Issues, Challenges, and Successes

Presenter: Mary Beth Frank Clark, Transportation Director, Nez Perce Tribe

The Nez Perce Tribe of Idaho is a federally recognized tribal nation with more than 3,500 enrolled citizens. The Nez Perce tribe has land in Idaho, Washington and Oregon and they are actively engaged in Lewis-Clark Valley transportation planning. We will learn about various transportation issues of the Tribe and their transit services.

Palouse Region Rural Transportation: System Details, Issues, Challenges, and Successes

Presenters: Mark Storey, County Engineer, Whitman County

Whitman and Garfield counties maintain an extensive rural road system that serves a diverse set of needs including those of farmers, businesses, the general public, etc.. An overview will be provided of the county road system, strategies and successes, followed by a discussion of possible new/improved approaches to county road management in the near future.

The Port of Clarkston is an operating port that manages its 120-acre waterfront site for a diversity of business tenants, emphasizing economic development, tourism, and recreational development. An overview of transportation-related port opportunities and issues will be provided.
