Plan Will Guide Policy and Spending Decision Through 2030
Olympia, WA – Oct. 13, 2010 – The deadline is Fri., Oct. 15, to file comments on the draft Washington Transportation Plan 2030. The Washington State Transportation Commission has worked for more than a year with local and regional governments and stakeholders throughout the state to write the draft plan. The final plan will be issued in December.
“This draft plan is the result of great collaboration with the cities, counties, businesses and other stakeholders who understand the role mobility plays in our economy and quality of life,” said Carol Moser, the Washington State Transportation Commissioner who is leading the planning effort. “As a result, we have placed preservation of the existing system as a top transportation priority over the next 20 years. Finding new efficiencies in the system and stable funding for transportation needs are among the recommended actions.”

“We have reached out to all parts of the state and listened carefully to the issues in each region,” Moser continued.
The Commission will spend the next few weeks reviewing public comments and finalizing the plan. The final plan will be used by lawmakers to guide transportation policy and investments through 2030.
