OLYMPIA - The Washington State Transportation Commission will meet June 23 in Olympia to continue discussions on SR 520 Bridge toll setting and receive a report from the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) on its efforts underway to implement efficiencies and reforms in operations of Washington State Ferries.
The meeting will be held Wednesday, June 23 at the Transportation Building on the Olympia Capital Campus, 310 Maple Park Ave. SE in Olympia starting at 9 a.m.
On Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. the Commission will continue its work with WSDOT toward developing the toll rate structure for the SR 520 Bridge. Toll collection on the SR 520 Bridge will begin in 2011 with the dual purposes of generating revenue to pay for a portion of the new bridge and managing congestion on the existing facility.
The Commission, which has the responsibility for setting ferry fares, unanimously voted on May 18, 2010 to delay consideration of ferry fare adjustments until the completion of operational reviews and audits directed by the Governor. At 3:00 p.m. WSDOT will report on reform efforts they have initiated at Washington State Ferries as well as provide an update on the status of the reviews underway.
