OLYMPIA – The tolls currently charged on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge will be extended indefinitely after a 5 – 2 vote today by the Washington State Transportation Commission. The Commission formally adopted the current Tacoma Narrows Bridge toll rates of $2.75 for Good To Go! electronic tolls and $4 for cash tolls following today’s public hearing on the proposal.

"Based upon a review of the data, the Commission believes traffic volumes are currently sufficient enough to generate the necessary revenue to meet our obligations,” said Commissioner Dick Ford. “However, we will be monitoring traffic volumes through the year and will adjust the rates when the fiscal need arises."

The Commission’s decision today supports the recommendations of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge Citizen Advisory Committee to keep the tolls at their current level. This nine-member committee is composed of permanent residents of the bridge area, and is required by law to make toll rate recommendations to the Transportation Commission.
