State Transportation Commission to discuss 2008 Tacoma Narrows Bridge toll proposal by phone

What: The Washington State Transportation Commission will hold a special meeting by telephone conference call to review and discuss the 2008-2009 Tacoma Narrows Bridge toll rate proposals. At this meeting, the Commission is expected to approve a toll rate proposal, which will be released for public review and comment through May 27, 2008.

When: 10 a.m., Monday, April 7

How: This meeting will be conducted as a conference call, so if you would like to listen in, you may do so by calling 605-772-3200. When prompted, enter the PIN number: 404317 followed by the pound (#) sign.

Where: The conference call will also be carried at the Commission’s administrative offices. Space is limited in the Commission’s conference room and participants who plan to listen in are asked to call the Commission Office at 360-705-7070 to reserve space. The address is:

Next steps: Once a toll proposal is approved, the Commission will begin a public comment period on the toll proposal. There will be a public input meeting on May 20 from 6 – 8 p.m. at The Inn at Gig Harbor, 3211 56th Street NW. The public is encouraged to attend this meeting and offer comments on the toll rate proposal. The Commission will then hold a final hearing on May 27 at the same time and location, where it will take additional public comment and adopt the final toll rates for the bridge. The adopted toll rates will be effective from July 1, 2008 – June 30, 2009.
