to Hold Meeting in
Poulsbo

OLYMPIA – As part
of the Washington State
Transportation Commission’s
community outreach efforts,
Transportation Commissioners
will join with city, county,
and state officials in
Poulsbo to discuss local
and regional transportation
needs in and around the
Kitsap Peninsula.
The meeting starts at 9
a.m. on Wednesday, September 27,
and will be held at Northwest
Design Center & Furniture
Gallery, Seminar Room,
18850 State Route 305,
in Poulsbo. The public
is invited to attend the
meeting and will have an
opportunity to address
Commission members during
a public comment period
scheduled for 3:15 p.m.
The meeting will consist
of series of panel discussions
and short presentations
about current activities,
future plans and needs
for transportation at the
local, regional and state
level. Local transportation
issues will be covered
by Poulsbo Mayor Quade
and Councilmember Henry.
Representatives from the
Puget Sound Regional Council
and Peninsula Regional
Transportation Planning
Organization will describe
regional transportation
concerns. On the state
level, executives from
WSDOT’s Olympic Region
and Washington State Ferries
will make presentations
regarding current and future
transportation projects
and plans. In addition,
the executive director
of Kitsap Transit will
provide information about
passenger-only ferry service
to be provided by the transit
agency. The Commission
will also hear from the
executive director of the
Kitsap Regional Coordinating
Council on innovative transportation
activities underway in
the region.
Following adjournment
of the meeting, Commissioners
will travel to the new
Lev-X facility near Poulsbo
on State Route 305 for
a presentation and demonstration
on magnetic levitation
technology.
The Washington State Transportation
Commission holds several
meetings throughout the
state each year to gain
insight from local government,
industry and citizens about
transportation issues that
affect their communities
and region. This information
helps the Commission to
develop and implement a
vision for transportation
that reflects the policies,
plans and priorities of
the people of the State
of Washington.
